My interest in fitness began as a child. At 8 years old I participated in my first competitive athletic experience, as the quarterback of my youth flag football team in Ruston, Louisiana. Like other children enrolled in athletic endeavors, I learned leadership, teamwork, and dedication, but for me these would be my lifelong passions. As a middle school sports star athlete, I played football and basketball, and I ran track. I learned to believe in myself, something I would later teach my clients.
Although I had two loves, football and basketball, I chose to play college football. My childhood dream came true when I received a full athletic scholarship to play football at Grambling State University under head Coach Doug Williams, Super Bowl XXII Most Valuable Player. After four years of play, injury, multiple knee surgeries, multiple championships, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, I decided to forego my senior season of football to attend graduate school at Louisiana State University.
As a graduate assistant intern for the 2005-2006 Sugar Bowl Champion the LSU Tigers football team, I worked in the Office of Recruiting. I worked closely with coaches and staff, high school football recruits, their families, and fans. In 2006 I graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Administration.
Between my injuries, successes, and degrees, I developed a strong understanding of fitness psychology and the way the mind and body work together to heal. Since then, my career has been a great journey.
